Budweiser.jpgSo, let me get this straight, some of these weight-loss companies sell food to people who eat too much to help them not eat so much?  Sheesh.  What’s next, Budweiser “beverages” for alcoholics?!

Anyway, on to the show…

Good NewsManny Ramirez is back playing pro baseball for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes!
Bad News – His 50-game suspension doesn’t prevent him from playing Minor League Baseball?! What the …!

Good News – The MLB policy on banned substances is supposedly one of the toughest in pro sports.
Bad News – By allowing pro baseball players to play pro baseball while suspended from pro baseball kinda undermines your “hard line” position on the policy of steroids.

Good News – Finally, Summer has officially arrived and baseball is the only major pro sport going!

Transformers 2.jpgBad News
– I must be getting old, because I seem to get surprised every year by just how frickin’ hot it is during Summertime!

Good News – The new Transformers movie opens today all across the country.
Bad News – Oh yippee, a new line of toys that the Li’l Archivers will simply “have” to have.

Good News – Speaking of movies, I still haven’t seen The Hangover, which I really want to see.
Bad News – Sometimes I hate this internal mechanism of mine that prevents me from doing things that appear to be overly trendy.

Good NewsHack will be back for today’s podcast after his trip to northern California to celebrate year one of his wedding vows.
Bad News – Nice of Hack to text me during the trip after each and every strikeout by Tex 3B Chris Davis, who I drafted last week in the H.A.L.L. and may never live down!

Good News – The Texas Longhorns go for the NCAA championship tonight in baseball when they take on the LSU Tigers.
Bad News – Collegiate baseball doesn’t get near the recognition it deserves.

Good News – The US Soccer Team takes on the world’s number #1 ranked team, Spain, today.
Bad News – Why do so many soccer players turn into drama-queens while trying to get fouls called against their opponents?

Tyler Hansbrough.jpgGood News
– The NBA Draft is fast approaching and we’re seeing some early deals being made.
Bad News – After all we heard in the media for the past few years about what a superstar Tyler Hansbrough was, he’s not even expected to be drafted in the top 25!?

Good News – It looks like I may end up being right about my prediction about A-Rod when I said I thought he was making a mistake by trying to come back too soon.
Bad News – If indeed, he ends up not being able to perform at his typical all-star caliber it could be a major blow to the Yankees lineup, including my NFBC #1 pick Mark Teixeira. Grrrr.

Well, that’s about for now.  Make sure you join Hack and Me on the Johnny Archive podcast tonight at 7pm ET on The Fantasy Sports Channel as BlogTalkRadio.

By the way, as a tease, we have some great guests lined up for the month of July!  We’ll even have some goodies for YOU, the listener, so remember the show is live every Wednesday at 7pm ET and Sunday’s 5-7pm ET for the 2-hour extravaganza or download it at iTunes!

Good News, Bad News 04/01/09

Happy April Fool’s Day!

Grand_Slam_300x250-1.gifGood News
– My podcast has a new home, The Fantasy Sports Channel at BlogTalkRadio.com!  It’s nice to be wanted!
Bad News – Now I feel even more pressure to produce a good show each and every week.

Good News – With a new network comes a new show time, 5pm ET on Sundays, and that means I’ll be able to do some live remote shows from ballparks this year!
Bad News – That probably means I have to travel outside the Johnny Archive Lair on a semi-regular basis, scary, very scary.

Good NewsGary Sheffield is on the verge of joining the exclusive 500 HR Club, as he enters 2009 with 499 bombs.
Bad News – “Shef” was released from the Detroit Tigers a week before the start of the season.

Good News – The Milwaukee Brewers signed future hall-of-famer Trevor Hoffman to solidify their bullpen this year, which has had a ton of issues in the past few years.
Bad News – Hoffman will start the season on the DL, jeez, here we go again Brew Crew fans!

Grand_Slam_277x180-1.gifGood News
- With Matt Holliday moving on the Oakland A’s, Seth Smith had high hopes for mucho-many ABs in ’09.
Bad News – The Colorado Rockies have decided to keep young speedster and potential 5-tool stud, Dexter Fowler, on the roster, uh-oh Seth.

Good NewsJoba Chamberlain won’t spend any time in JAIL following a drunk driving conviction in a Nebraska courtroom today.
Bad News – His defense that he had to drink beer to keep the bugs away didn’t seem to work very well.

Good News – I am in the playoffs with my fantasy basketball team even after I lost 2 of my top 4 picks, Amare Stoudamire and Michael Redd, to injury.
Bad News - Compared to baseball, I have virtually no interest in the outcome of my fantasy hoops team.

Good News – There is alot of good competition for sandwich making companies in America, just look at all the T.V. ads.
Bad News – One company that routinely has the worst ad compaigns is Quiznos, like when they had some dead rat looking thing featured a couple of years ago.  Now, they are doing some wierd deal where the oven talks to an employee in a sensual voice filled with spooky romantic/sexual innuendos.  A bit disturbing, if you ask me.

progressive girl.jpgGood News
– Speaking of companies who must be raking in the cash, seems by all the ads, insurance companies — not named AIG — must be doing very well.
Bad newsGeico actually uses talking money as their latest spokesperson, but am I the only one getting really annoyed with this cheesy waitress chick doing those Progressive commercials?

Good News - Most of the country really seems happy about Barrack Obama as their President even as the economy remains unsettled.
Bad News – Some people are really unhappy these days and they are organizing some strange activites later this month.  They’re bringing back the tea party.  I’m okay with it as I don’t really like tea that much, but if it was a coke party I’d be there and probably all night!!!.

Have a good day all you fools out there!

Good News, Bad News 08/06/08

Hot off the press, it’s Good News, Bad News day!  Enjoy…

Wait, before we do, I have started a new blog so I can dive into football a little more.  Considering most people who come here, probably do for baseball, I figured a new place just for football would be best.  Sooo, Johnny, what’s the new addy?!  I’m so glad you asked, here it is…

http://johnnyarchive.blogspot.com/

Don’t worry, I’ll still be writing my blog here, but I am a man of many talents so I will be writing both blogs while the NFL/MLB seasons overlap.  Remember, you can always go to johnnyarchive.com to see what’s going with Johnny Archive.  Imagine that!

And don’t forget I’m also going to be doing a fantasy football podcast every Friday Night over at BlogTalkRadio.com this football season, just look for FridayNightFootball.  Is this an exciting time of the year for sports fans, or what!!??

Okay, away we go…

ron washington.jpgGood News
– Rangers manager, Ron Washington, decided to clamp down on his players in an effort to keep them focused.
Bad News – Chosing your young soon-to-be ex-closer, CJ Wilson, to be your first target when the kid is hurt and toast emotionally seems like kicking him while he’s down to me.  So, he flipped the baseball to you, big frickin’ deal.

Good News – The Texas Rangers are only a handful of games out in the chase for the AL Wildcard.
Bad News - The Rangers have absolutely NO SHOT at winning the Wildcard, so Ranger fans don’t get your hopes up.  I’m so convinced they aren’t a playoff team that if they do make the playoffs I’ll walk to Dallas, from Austin to pay for my error.  I’m serious.

paris hilton.jpgGood News
Paris Hilton has come out with a video response to John McCain’s ad against Obama in which Paris is pictured.
Bad News – For the love of all things holy do we really need/want Paris-freakin’-Hilton involved in the politics and future leadership of our country!?!

Good News - The Brett Favre saga is finally winding down as it appears he will be dealt to a team outside the division, probably Tampa Bay.
Bad News – Brett Favre, the latest addition of Joe Montana as a KC Chief, Michael Jordan as a Washington Wizard, Tony Dorsett as a Denver Bronco or OJ Simpson as a San Francisco 49er — whatever happened to OJ anyway? :P

Good News – I have my first fantasy football draft tonight and I’m actually starting to get excited about the upcoming football season.

Michael Jordan wizard.jpgBad News
– My first free league of the season is used mainly as a glorified mock draft and normally the owners are exactly the most hard-core.  Example: One owner in the league forgot to give his team a name. doh!

Good News – I’m still hanging in there in my fantasy baseball leagues (1st in Ron Cey 411 Listener League – 17 points / 1st in JAIL League – 19 points / 3rd CBS 12 team free league — 5 points out of 1st).
Bad News – I’m starting to get a little nervous because if I end up winning both of my main leagues it will mean that I essentially went wire-to-wire.  Not easy to do.

Good News – I feel like something really good is on the horizon for Johnny Archive!
Bad News – I don’t know what it is exactly, so I’m sceered I might miss it. I good enough, I’m smart enough and dog-gone it, people like me!

Good News – It’s a marathon baseball day today! Woot! Starting at 11:35AM there will be live baseball on my computer all the way until about 11:00PM or so tonight.  I love my MLB.TV!
Bad News - These marathon days are not exactly the most productive days for me.  Can you say, wife-aggro?

Good News – I made another blockbuster trade in the Ron Cey league last night.  I got Sabathia, Chipper, Pudge and Heilman in return for Mauer, Thames, Lirinao, Young(SD SP) and S.Torres.

roncey2.jpgBad News
– I know I gave up alot, but my goal was to land the most stable, dominant SP I could (CC) because I am still on pace to go over the innings limit by about 75 innings.  I also think I’m getting Chipper very cheap, almost as a throw-in and hopefully he can help me with AVG, at least, when he comes back at the end of this week.  I wouldn’t make this deal in May, but with 7 weeks to go, I think it makes sense.

Good NewsAdam Dunn, who I acquired in a deal a few weeks ago, has been a solid source of power even though the Reds haven’t played particularly well.
Bad News - I gave up Ryan Ludwick, essentially, for Dunn as part of the 3-3 deal thinking he would cool off in the final couple months of the season.  Luddy, has not cooled down, in fact he is as hot now as he’s been all season.  For the most part, though, both sides have benefited from this trade, although Ludwick has probably hit for a better average.

Okay, that’s a wrap.  Wish me luck in my football draft tonight!  I’ll discuss the results here and over at the other blog site tomorrow.

One last thing, sit down and remember where you heard it first – the 2008 World Series teams – Florida Marlins vs. Tampa Bay Rays!  The Fish will shock the universe as they become World Champs.  Yep, the Florida Marlins will win it all in a classic Sunshine State matchup.

Good News, Bad News 07/30-31/08

Well, I said I’d be back later with Good News, Bad News and the key word is later as it is now early Thursday morning.

So, let’s not delay any longer…

Good News – Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter pitched well in his return from major surgery, giving up only 1 ER.
Bad News – He was on a very strict pitch count so he only went 4 innings and thus didn’t qualify for the Win.

Good News – I have the resolution to the two biggest sports stories of the day!

Brett Favre podium.jpgBad News
– The Green Bay Packers trade Brett Favre to the Boston Red Sox for Manny Ramirez!  Hey, ya never know, it could happen.

Good NewsAdam Dunn, OF Reds, contiunes to absolutely rake, hitting two more bombs Wednesday night.
Bad News – Even with 32 homers this season, he is overshadowed by many other players.  His handlers haven’t done a very good job of promoting this legit power hitter.

Good NewsBrandon Phillips stole his 22nd base Wednesday night, continuing his run at a second 30-30 season.
Bad News – He might well be the most underrated fantasy stud in the game, as a 2B with speed and power batting cleanup for the Reds.

Good News – The Yankees actually made a deal that made sense, when they acquired Pudge Rodriguez, and wasn’t purely a salary dump form their trade partner.

kyle farnsworth.jpgBad News
– The NY Fans and media will have to find a new player to kick around now that Kyle Farnsworth is a former-Yankee.

Good News – I get to go have a surgical procedure done on a tooth that has been causing me a ton of pain the last 2 weeks.
Bad News – The pain was created by the doctor referring me to this new surgeon. grrrr

Good News – I was right when I knew I recognized the sound of a team in trouble a few weeks ago.
Bad News – The sound was Astros skipper saying,”We need to start getting Darin Erstad more ABs”.

Good News – The new JAIL Fantasy Football League is just about full, only 2 more owners needed.
Bad News – After having such a great year in the JAIL Fantasy Baseball League — leading for the past 10 weeks — I have a feeling the football owners are going to take great pleasure in pounding my nose into the “frozen tundra.”

sweating man.jpgGood News
– The Dog Days of Summer are almost upon us all.
Bad News – For those of us in Texas, who built the Kennel, let me officially welcome you to the stifling heat!

Good News – Speaking of August 1st, it means that school starts this month!!!
Bad News – It also means the beginning of the holiday gift bombardment from Wal-Mart and the Home Shopping Channels — not that I watch them. =P

Good News – For those thousands (maybe millions, I forget =P) of fans who have enjoyed my baseball podcast at BlogTalkRadio.com I will be doing a football podcast — details soon.
Bad News – Though I actually started playing fantasy sports by doing football, I have put so much energy into baseball the past few years, I am really going to have to do my homework to provide good, solid football insight.

Okay, there ya go.  A day late, but never a dollar short!

Good News, Bad News 07/02/08

Good News – Will Smith’s obligatory July 4th blockbuster opens in theatres today.

Bad News – Smith’s character, Hancock, apparently has a foul mouth, so this will be one superhero movie the lil’ Archivers won’t be seeing this summer.

Good News – The 2008 All-Star Game balloting has already surpassed last year’s 150 million votes.

Bad News – The majority of the votes are apparently coming from die-hard Red Sox fans.

Good News - Despite a recent drought here in Central Texas, county officials have lifted the ban on selling fireworks just in time for the three-day weekend.

Bad News -The use or possession of fireworks is illegal in town, and the local police have said they will monitor stands and pull over anyone they see enter the city limits after purchasing fireworks.

Good News – The 2008 Baseball Season is at the half-way mark, so it’s a good time to assess your strategy and standing in your fantasy leagues.

Bad News – If, at this point, you are more than 40 points behind the leader and there are 5 teams ahead of you, then the 2008 Fantasy Baseball Season is basically over. (JA’s 40/5 Rule)

Good News - The Archive Family recently returned from a three-day trip to my mother-in-law’s house.

Bad News - My quiet bachelor pad has transformed back into Grand Central Station.

Good News - The dentist tried a new technique last week to save me from a grueling, intense dental procedure.

Bad News - After an hour of poking and prodding, he concluded that the new technique did not work and I would have to come back another day to undergo the grueling, intense dental procedure.

Good News - A few of the Round Rock Express players I’ve been following this season were called up to the major league.

Bad News – The Round Rock Express games will be a little less exciting without J.R. Towles and Dave Borkowski.

Good News - Lindsay Lohan may have a new half-sister.

Bad News - Her father is already exploiting the newly found sibling by auctioning his paternity test results to the highest bidder.

Good NewsBrett Favre dismissed a report that he’s considering coming out of retirement as “all rumor.”

Bad News - That’s the same thing serial retirees Michael Jordan, Garth Brooks, and Roger Clemens said right before they came out of retirement.

Good News – Oklahoma City will have an NBA franchise for the 2008-09 season, as the Super Sonics leave their colors, name, and city behind to relocate to owner Clay Bennet’s hometown.

Bad News – When OKC officials realized that Bennet had been talking about a basketball team and not the fast food drive-in, their enthusiasm waned dramatically.

Good News, Bad News 04/23/08

Okay, we’re back in the swing of things.  It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means!

Good News – I did my first song dedication on my podcast this past Sunday.
Bad News – The song, Blink 182′s What’s My Age Again? went out to Astros SS Miggy Tejada — or Tejeda according to his birth certificate.

Sleeping Man.jpgGood News – The world of sports continues to expand.
Bad News – All kinds of activities are now considered sports.  For instance: playing cards, fishing, spelling and even eating are all grueling tests of one’s determination, strength and endurance.

Good News – The world of sports continues to expand part #2.
Bad News – What’s next? The USBL — the United States Breathing Leagues?!?  NSA — National Sleep Association (Wait, we already have that, it’s called the NBA regular season).

Michael Dukakis.jpgGood News – After Hillary won PA, the democratic party gets to continue its marathon of choosing a candidate for 2008 presidential election.
Bad News – Clinton and Obama are going to be so worn out and torn to shreds by each other that by the time either one faces McCain the America people will be sick of both of them.  Where’s Michael Dukakis when we need him?!

Hank Steinbrenner.jpgGood News – New York Yankees baseball fans don’t have to worry that the team will not be getting as much press now that George Steinbrenner is getting older and calmer.
Bad News – Hank “the Tank” is off to a great start spewing nonsense and keeping the clubhouse filled with reporters asking the players and coaches for reactions to his statements.

Good News – Joe Torre dosn’t seem to be having any issues transitioning back to NL-style baseball.
Bad News – Well, except for trying to put 4 outfielders in his lineup everyday.  He just can’t wait for interleague play to start!

Stephen a smith.jpgGood News – With the NBA playoffs under way we get to see more of the analysts who specialize on basketball.
Bad News – Yippee! More Stephen A. Smith and his smooth, gracious basketball breakdowns.  Quite Frankly, I think he is a little angry about something.

Good NewsAlfonso Soriano is due back to the Cubbies on May 1st.
Bad News – Chicago is playing better without “so-So” in the lineup.

Good News – Brewers 1B Prince Fielder continues to pass on meat when it’s put in front of him, even though some have speculated that his new diet is to blame for his lack of power in ’08.
bobby jenks.jpgBad News – White Sox RP Bobby Jenks apparently is following Fielder around gobbling up all the leftovers as he continues to get bigger and bigger.

Good News – My JAIL league team is NOT in last place!
Bad News – I’m closer to last than I am to first place.  But hey, considering my top 5 draft picks have been off to slow starts or hurt (Soriano, Braun, Roberts, Atkins, Mauer) I’m actually hanging in there.

Don’t forget The Johnny Archive Fantasy Baseball Show tonight (Weds) at Midnight Eastern Time / 11PM Central.

Be Cool!

Good News, Bad News 04/09/08

Okie-dokie, here is the latest installment in the now world famous Good News, Bad News.  I need to start using a new program so I can add my green and red colors, since the new and improved mlblogs doesn’t have colored text anymore. =(

Good News – Finally, today’s Good News, Bad News segment is posted!
Bad News – Since I spent so much time on my heart-felt post about Justin Speier, this post was a little/lot late.

Good News – The Archive family got a new couch and loveseat delivered today.
Bad News – The Archive boys are specialists at breaking in new furniture…poor, poor furniture.

Good News – My free agent pick up of Dodgers outfielder Andre Either is working out pretty well.
Bad News – Instead of Either’s playing time costing Juan Pierre, who I don’t own on any teams, Matt Kemp has been riding the pine and I own him in several leagues.

Good News – Mike Siano and crew have been trying to improve the newly revamped Fantasy 411 Show that has received mixed revues from some of its most devoted fans.
Bad News – Ummm, I watched today’s show already and sadly it was probably the worst 411 I have ever watched.

Good News – If you missed the live showing of the MLB.com Fantasy 411, it apparently is going to rebroadcast every day 2-3 times immediately after the live show.
Bad News – Instead of all the rebroadcasts, why not make the live show a 2-hour show?  That way there would be plenty of time for all the extra gimmicks that chew up most of the current 50-minute show.

Good News – This blog enables me to express my opinions on various topics and most of the time nobody pays it too much attention.
Bad News – If I keep trying to offer up my light-hearted, humorous tidbits about the 411, someone might get offended.

Good News – Johnny Cueto’s dog doesn’t have to go outside like most other dogs.
Bad News – Cueto doesn’t walk anybody, including his own dog. 18K/0BB in 2 starts.

Good News – I made my first trade of the year!  I swapped Giants Closer Brian Wilson for Brewers promising starter Yovani Gallardo who should be back fairly soon.
Bad News – I feel like I traded fun surfing music (Beach Boys) for mysterious new age (Yanni).

Good News – After all that drama with Speier last night, Scot Shields is pitching the eighth inning for the Angels today, which means Speier will hopefully get the next closing opportunity.
Bad News – K-Rod is only supposed to be out until this weekend.

Good News – The college basketball season is over, so there should be more focus back on baseball in the sports world.
Bad News – It’s almost political season again, which apparantly has no off-season.  Anyone seen Ross Perot lately?

Okay, that’s a wrap!

-Johnny Archive

Good News, Bad News 3/19/08

Good Wednesday to all of you hardcore baseball fans.  I know the national media has been fixated on all this "bracket" stuff, but we know the start of the baseball season is inching closer and soon will be here.  But um, ya know, let me go ahead and tell you my final bracket predictions…just for fun.

Final Four

EAST – North Carolina
MIDWEST – Georgetown
SOUTH – Memphis
WEST – Duke

Championship Game

North Carolina vs. Memphis

2008 NCAA HOOPS NATIONAL CHAMPIONMEMPHIS TIGERS

Okay on to the News…

Good News – MLB has enjoyed a long period of goodwill between the Players Association and the Owners.Donald_fehr
Bad News – Donald Fehr, who seems like he is always in a bad mood, is still leading the Players Union and has been making a few rumblings lately.

Good News – The MLB all-time homerun king wants to play at least another season.
Bad News – Nobody wants Barry Bonds on their team.

Good News – The Boston Red Sox players and coaches are a close-knit team and back each other up, regardless of the problem.
Bad News – The Red Sox players have — at the time of this writing — voted to boycott boarding a plane to Japan over a dispute of a $40,000 payment for the coaches.

Good News – By refusing to board the plane, the Red Sox are standing up against tyranny, oppression and being asked to do the unthinkable.
Bad News – The unthinkable in this case is playing baseball.  Asking baseball coaches to actually coach baseball during the baseball season…disgraceful!  I mean, my gawd man what’s next, asking fans to be fanatical, asking stadium vendors to sell stuff during games?!  Where will the madness end?!

Good News – The Detroit Tigers are being penciled in as the A.L. representative in the upcoming World Series.
Bad News – With their bullpen in shambles, it’s a good thing most pencils come with erasers.

Good News – The first trade of the MLB.com Fantasy 411 Ron Cey Listener League, of which Johnny Archive is a member, is about to be finalized.Casey_stern_2
Bad News – That dog-gone Casey Stern rejected my trade and did a deal with my long-time trade partner Chris in Minnesota.  They’re traders (get it, two meanings? traaaders…), I tell ya!

Good News – The Colorado Rockies’ secret plan to win every game at the end of a season to reach the championship is being duplicated in other sports.
Bad News – The Houston Rockets, of the NBA, got to only 22-0 and didn’t make it to the championship before losing.

Good News – Jeff Francoeur and Kosuke Fukudome should be able to start the season in a week-and-a-half with their teams.
Bad News – Both players suffered, what appeared to be at the time, very serious injuries to the head and neck by thrown balls.

Good News – New York has removed a troubled Governor who obviously had an issue with extra marital affairs and the sanctity of marriage.
Bad News – The new Governor has already had to publicly address his own issues with faithfulness.  And this time, the wife wasn’t simply there for support, she also went outside the marriage for intimacy.  Knock it off, already!!!

Good News – The New York Yankees altered their spring training schedule and flew up to Blacksburg, VA to the campus of Virginia Tech to help the community deal with the tragic loss of 32 students in April 2007.Yankees1
Bad News – Absolutely nothing bad about this wonderful gesture from a New York Yankees organization that continues to lead the way in giving back to those who are in need.

Have a great day and if you can, remember to check out The Johnny Archive Fantasy Baseball Show tonight at 10:30 pm central.

Good News, Bad News 3/12/08

Hello sports fans!  It is Wednesday and you know what that means…Good News, Bad News Day!  Woohoo!

So, let’s not delay. Bring on the comedy, Archive boy.  Make me lol out loud (line stolen from Monk — great show and Mrs. Archive and Archive Jr’s. agree).

Good News – Sy Sperling — former president of the Hair Club for Men — is back in the headlines, as I have created a funny reference to the relevant news of the day.
Bad News – It took the Governor of New York ruining his career to bring back the cultural T.V. commercial icon.

Sy_sperling
Eliot_spitzer

<-"I’m not just the president, I’m a client"

"I’m not just the Governor, I’m Client 9"                                                     ->

Good News – I was successful in my hunt for a new computer system at a decent price.
Bad News – I made a mistake and took 4-year-old Archive Jr. and 60+ year-old Momma Archive with me on my mission to seek and destroy the Best Buy sales staff.

Good News – I have never had a really big flat panel monitor, choosing instead to spend the extra money on more power with my PC.
Bad News – I got a 28-inch behemoth monitor that I’m pretty sure will cause retinal damage by the time I end this post.

Good News – Prices on computers are reasonable for the consumer these days, especially if you do a little research and shopping around.
Bad News – There’s still enormous pressure by the teenage employees of your local nationwide electronics store to buy those "extended warranties."  If you decline, they act as if you’ve closed their World of Warcraft account.

Good News – I am going to stop talking about my new computer purchase after this segment.
Bad News – There is nothing bad about that.

Good News – Casey Stern took the Fantasy 411 off topic again on the Tuesday show by bringing up some obscure Tom Hanks movie reference.Money_pit_movie
Bad News – I’m a closet hardcore fan of the movie The Money Pit.  "You cannot name your band Meryl Streep…"  I used to have the part where Hanks goes into this extended laughing bit as my  answering machine message.

Good News – None of the players on my fantasy team have sustained any major injuries thus far in spring training.
Bad News – This is maybe the grossest year for injuries – Felix Pie and his twisted testicle and Kaz Matsui with his recurring hemorrhoid problem.  Knock it off already, I’m trying to eat here!

Good News – I have my Ron Cey Listener League draft tomorrow night, which includes Casey Stern and Zach Steinhorn from MLB.com.
Bad News – Zach and I have razzed Sterno so much already this year that if he finishes higher than us in the standings, we’ll never, and I mean never, hear the end of it.

Good News – I finally watched the highly acclaimed No Country For Old Men last night on DVD.
Bad News – Once again, I was so disappointed.  What the heck kind of ending was that?!  See, what happens is….oh phooey, never mind.No_country_for_old_men

Good News – Good movie directors seem to have a knack for weaving non-essential supporting characters into the story of the movie.
Bad News – What in the Sam Hill was with the Woody Harrelson character in No Men Get Old In Our Viagra Country or whatever it was called?  I mean, he finds this guy in Mexico in 3 hours and then his downfall is walking up stairs?!

Well, that concludes this special movie edition of Good News, Bad News.

Don’t forget to catch The Johnny Archive Fantasy Baseball Show tonight live at 10:30 pm central daylight time on Blogtalkradio.com.

Have a great day, y’all!

-Johnny Archive

Good News, Bad News 3/05/08

It’s Good News, Bad News day!  Yay! Whoopee!

Good News – Rays pitcher Scott Kazmir had a positive result from his recent MRI.Kazmir

Bad News – The doctor who administered the MRI was team orthopedic Dr. Koco Eaton…yes, Dr. "Koco-for-coco-puffs" gave Kazmir a clean bill of health.

Good News – Pitcher Noah Lowry did what he could to help take the pressure off the make-shift defense behind him in the S.F. Giants most recent spring training game.
Bad News – Lowry did not record an official out the first time through the lineup, walking nine of the 12 Texas Rangers batters he faced and throwing three pitches to the backstop.

Good News – Hillary Clinton did well in the big Ohio and Texas primaries, ending Barack Obama’s string of 12-straight wins.
Bad News – The longer the democrats drag out their race, the more likely it is that they end up going negative and weakening the party.

Good News – The Chicago Cubs are the clear-cut, undisputed winners!
Bad News – Yes, they win the award for the team with the most bizarre injuries — bruised face, fractured tip of the middle finger, irregular heartbeat and of course the twisted testicle — to its players this season.Felix_pie

Good News -  There is absolutely no truth to the rumors of how Cubs outfielder Felix Pie sustained his twisted testicle.American_pie_006
